Balinese Massage in Amed

A traditional Balinese massage is one of the best ways to relax after a day of diving, snorkeling, or exploring East Bali. At Akasha Amed Spa, we keep the ritual alive in a quiet tropical garden.

What Is a Balinese Massage?

Balinese massage is a full-body treatment that combines gentle stretching, long strokes, skin rolling, and pressure-point work. It draws from Indonesian, Ayurvedic, and Chinese healing traditions. Natural aromatherapy oils are used to calm the nervous system and soften the skin.

At Akasha Amed Spa, our Balinese massage is our signature treatment. It can be booked for 60 or 90 minutes and is suitable for most guests, including first-time spa visitors.

Benefits of Balinese Massage

  • Relieves muscle tension after diving or travel
  • Improves circulation and lymph flow
  • Reduces stress and anxiety
  • Softens skin with natural aromatherapy oils
  • Improves flexibility through gentle stretching
  • Promotes deeper, more restful sleep

What to Expect During Your Treatment

Your session begins in an open-air bale surrounded by tropical plants. You choose your oil, then lie down on a clean massage bed. The therapist uses a mix of palm pressure, thumb walking, and long strokes to work through tension from feet to shoulders. Stretching is included but is always gentle and within your comfort level.

After the massage, we offer ginger tea and a few minutes of quiet in the garden. Most guests leave feeling lighter, looser, and ready for dinner by the beach.
